Getting to know us: We (Doug and Theresa), at different times and in different places, came to understand that we were sinners and at an early age, when we heard about Jesus who died for our sins and was resurrected from the dead, we ask Him into our lives. In believing in Him for salvation, we could have forgiveness of sin, eternal life and REAL PEACE. Ever since our lives have been filled with meaning and great thankfulness to our God.
About Doug: I (Doug) was born in Alaska and had great parents who loved the Lord. They coached my life with the use of the Holy Scriptures. I am so thankful for my parents who are now both with the Lord. I have three sisters and one brother. My first wife was Jeanne, and we had 4 children and then eight grandchildren. We served the Lord together for 62 years. Jeanne is now with the Lord in Glory. A wonderful wife and helpmate was Jeanne my love. Recently I married Theresa. We believe the Lord brought us together for our later years.
I have a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies. Jeanne and I pastored Country Bible Chapel near Fairbanks, Alaska. We did church planting in Montana for 20 years. We spent 6 months in Russia teaching the Word of God and working with youth in a summer Bible Camp with Kingdom Ventures. When we were younger, we did a lot of youth work and started High Trails Expeditions. We held home Bible studies, and Jeanne ran a Bible correspondence ministry for some 20 years for prisoners in California.
I did aircraft maintenance in Alaska, had a commercial pilot license, and have done extensive mountaineering. I was a ham-radio operator in earlier times, loved hunting and fishing, and have done lots of running and competition running. My buddy Steve and I climbed several high peaks, one of which was the east face of Mt. Whitney. My son Titus and I climbed the Grand Teton one wonderful day. What great views! Titus also climbed the highest mountain in Wyoming with Steve and I. How beautiful and magnificent is the evidence of God’s creative work that we can see through the infinite variety of the earth’s terrain, and also amazing animal and plant life! I have also built two homes. I cared for Jeanne, who had some health difficulties until she departed this life. I am thankful for so many friends and loved ones.
About Theresa: I came to Jesus as a twelve-year-old at a Christian youth camp in Texas. What a difference that has made in my life (now 70)! I was happily married to Larry for twenty years and in 1996 he died suddenly, and he is now with the Lord. We had two daughters and a son, and I finished raising our three kids as a single mom. I had the privilege of home-schooling them for 6 years of their education. I now have 11 grandkids whom I get to see often because my adult kids and their kids live nearby. So blessed! At forty-eight, I started college all over again and got a K-8 teaching degree and spent 6 years teaching at a small private Christian school and one year at a charter school. I also had some experience in public schools during my training time. Currently I am retired from teaching, but I love leading “Kids’ Worship” on Sunday mornings at our church, especially because it solidifies Biblical truth in their hearts through song. I like to read and study the Bible and other authors’ insights on it and find truth for application in my studies. The Bible “is living and active and sharper than any two- edged sword, piercing to the divide between soul and spirit….” (Hebrews 4:12) Wow, have I found that to be true! God has blessed me with many long and short-term friendships that I enjoy so much! And now I have a new friend, my husband Doug!
Doug: Now Theresa and I are serving the Lord together in Phoenix with Bible studies and sharing “the gospel of Jesus Christ”; we love to share the Word of God with others! Realizing the peril of our times, we seek to find ways and means to let others know about Him and encourage fellow believers. This website is another way to get the truth of the Bible out to others. May the Lord bless you with spiritual riches and REAL PEACE in our troubled world.
